Course overview

This module is specifically designed to provide mental health practitioners, researchers and managers with critical awareness of contemporary debated in the field of mental health. These include policy, ethics, human rights, the political and practice landscape, influence of key consumers groups, patient safety methodology, legal aspects of mental health and novel practice initiatives.

Prerequisite knowledge

Non EEA students can only apply as part of a programme, not as a stand-alone module.

  • A current professional registration with a relevant professional/statutory body or equivalent
  • At least one years' relevant clinical experience as a health or social care practitioner
  • A satisfactory academic reference and a satisfactory clinical reference.

English requirements

For those students whose first language is not English one of the following qualifications is also required:

  • IELTS: 7.0

Please note that due to changes in the UKVI's list of SELTs we are no longer able to accept TOEFL as evidence of English language for students who require a CAS as of April 2014.
