Course Content
Contraceptive (Family Planning) and Sexual Health Update Days are suitable for nurses and other health professionals working in women's health, family planning, contraception or sexual health. They provide updates on timely and topical issues in the field.
This day is designed to give information regarding the signs, symptoms and treatment of the commonest sexually transmitted infections enabling staff to take a history to improve diagnosis and appropriate treatment in primary health settings.
Tutor Info
Val McMunn lectures in contraception, sexual health and cytology. She has a masters degree in public health and has worked in many different aspects of health care. She joined City, University of London in 2010 and maintains the skills and knowledge she teaches by continuing to work clinically.
Eligibility
Qualified Healthcare Professionals.
This course is not aimed at staff already working in the field of genito - urinary medicine.
English Requirements
Applicants must be proficient in spoken and written English.
What will I learn?
You will learn:
- How to take a history in relation to sexual health
- The signs, symptoms and treatment of the commonest sexually transmitted infections
- How to screen and diagnose these conditions
Teaching and Assessment
The day will consist of presentations, scenarios and a quiz to provide an interesting and fun day.
