Course Content

The module focuses on areas of knowledge and understanding which underpin the nursing care required by the intensive care patient as well as respiratory compromise and respiratory support.

Assessment strategies will be explored as will ethical principles which support intensive care.

This is a Nursing Studies top-up degree programme module. If you wish to complete a top-up degree, please apply directly on the Nursing Studies programme webpage. If you would still like to complete this module as a CPPD student but would like to complete a top-up degree at a later date, please note that you will only be able to transfer a maximum of 30 credits which have been awarded within 5 years prior to the start date of the programme (top-up degree). Module Dates:

Term 1 - 12th, 26th September; 10th, 24th October; 7th, 20th, 21st, 22nd November 2017

Term 2 - 9th, 23rd January; 6th, 20th February; 6th, 19th, 20th, 21st March 2018

Term 3 - 8th, 22nd May; 5th, 19th June; 3rd, 16th, 17th, 18th July 2018

Eligibility

Non EEA students can only apply as part of a programme, not as a stand-alone module.

  • You must have at least 10 months experience of working within intensive care and be currently working in an intensive care unit.
  • Have a clinical mentor.

English Requirements

For those students whose first language is not English, the following qualification is also required:

  • IELTS: 7.0

Please note that due to changes in the UKVI's list of SELTs we are no longer able to accept TOEFL as evidence of English language for students who require a CAS as of April 2014.
