Course Content

This module aims to allow you to critically analyse and evaluate the bioscientific knowledge base of your practice, by addressing key issues in anatomy, physiology, pathology and pharmacology. There are five study days, covering the cell and principles of pharmacology, pain and analgesia, microbiology, nutrition and wound healing.  The development of these skills can then be utilised to critically examine your practice, promote change in light of bioscientific evidence and develop and lead on quality improvement strategies.

This is a Nursing Studies top-up degree programme module. If you wish to complete a top-up degree, please apply directly on the Nursing Studies programme webpage. If you would still like to complete this module as a CPPD student but would like to complete a top-up degree at a later date, please note that you will only be able to transfer a maximum of 30 credits which have been awarded within 5 years prior to the start date of the programme (top-up degree). Eligibility

Non EEA students can only apply as part of a programme, not as a stand-alone module.

We welcome applications from anyone with an interest in this topic.

English Requirements

For those students whose first language is not English, the following qualification is also required:

  • IELTS: 7.0

Please note that due to changes in the UKVI's list of SELTs we are no longer able to accept TOEFL as evidence of English language for students who require a CAS as of April 2014.
