CLJJ Research Studentships 2013
The Centre is offering three three-year, full-time doctoral Research Studentships, available to both home and overseas fee-paying students. Applications can be made to undertake doctoral studies in a topic relevant to one of the main themes of the Centre:
- Legal Restraints on the Media
- Transformations in Media Policy
- Journalism and Human Rights
- Media, Journalism and Criminal Justice
- Media Justice
For entry in October 2013, each studentship will attract a bursary of £15,000 per annum in addition to payment of the tuition fees. Successful candidates will usually be expected to undertake some teaching support activity in their second and third years, by agreement with the School concerned.

Please note, CLJJ research students are supervised by at least one of the Centre Directors.
If your project is considered feasible, you will be invited to submit a formal application.
Your application should include:
- a completed application form
- proof of your academic qualifications (transcripts and degree certificates)
- evidence of your English language proficiency (where appropriate)
- two written references
Entry requirements
Applicants should have a track record of high academic achievement, demonstrated by an undergraduate degree with at least a second class (upper division) or equivalent, and a Master's degree (in a relevant discipline) with at least a merit or equivalent. You should be able to demonstrate a suitable aptitude to undertake a course of independent research.
Language requirements
If English is not your first language you will need to achieve a minimum overall score of 7.0 (with a minimum score of 6.5 in the reading and writing tests) in the International English Language Testing System (IELTS).
