Student profile: Hannah Scudder

What course are you on?

Media Studies and Sociology BSc (first year)

Where are you from?

What is the best thing about studying in London?

The buzz around London is great. There is just so much at your feet regardless of what you are into. Exploring the neighbouring area has been really enjoyable.

Why did you choose your course?

I was set on studying Law right up to starting my UCAS application but I changed my mind at the last minute. I chose instead to study something I had taken for A-level and what I thought would keep me interested for three years.

Why did you choose to study it at City?

I never thought of City, but I asked my Sociology teacher what universities she would suggest and City was one of them. I also wanted to stay in London and City was one of the few that offered sociology.

What's your favourite topic within your study area?

Actually it has been Introduction to Criminology, my elective. That is what I like about my course, I am allowed to look into other areas.

If you could give one bit of advice to a prospective City student, what would it be?

To try and get involved in as many freshers events and societies, especially if you are living at home. Its easy not to so you really have to make an effort to meet people.

What are your plans after graduating from City?

I have no idea about plans after graduating. I hope that as the three years go along I will get an idea.

What are your interests outside of your course?

Writing and film making. Am involved in the student media team and another paper outside City.
