PhD Title: Evaluating the concept of “new terrorism”: A comparative analysis of the 17th of November to the features that define “new terrorism”.

Education

MSc Crime Science - University College London (2015 -2016)

MSc European Societies and European Integration - University of the Aegean (2013 - 2015)

BSc Sociology - University of the Aegean (2009 - 2013)

Research topic

After the 9/11 attacks the term “new age terrorism” was cited more and more regularly implying a new concept off terrorism that differs from what we knew so far. These theories incorporate a series of features that define “new age terrorism”. However, as many scholars suggest, these features exist in traditional terrorist groups. My project is a comparative analysis between the Greek terrorist group 17th of November, that operated from the 70s and for 40 years andante the theories that define “new age terrorism”. The ultimate goal is to delineate the common characteristics that could support that the “new age terrorism” should be conceived more as a development rather than an entirely new project.
