PhD Title: Essays on attitudes towards risk and health risks of immigrants and its relationship with Hepatitis B vaccine uptake in the UK

Brief description of research topic

Immigrant population accounts for 12.5% of the total population in the UK in 2013 while 95% of chronic Hepatitis B infections occur in migrant population. This PhD aims to empirically explore and understand if there are differences in the risk attitudes and the uptake of risky health behaviours between native and immigrant population in the UK. To explore this question, we will use secondary data but also develop questionnaires to elicit knowledge of Hepatitis B, transmission and prevention of different groups in the UK. The aim is to help develop interventions to increase the uptake of Hepatitis B vaccine.
