Donation FAQs

United Kingdom Giving

Gift Aid is an income tax relief designed to benefit charities and Community Amateur Sports Clubs (CASC). If you’re a UK taxpayer, Gift Aid increases the value of your charity donations by 25% because the charity can reclaim the basic rate of tax on your gift at no extra cost to you. For individuals, the Gift Aid rules require the completion of a (insert link to Giftaid form) This provides us with the minimum information required for us to be able to claim Gift Aid on a donation. Gift Aid can be claimed on individual and sponsorship donations that are made to City, University of London. To ensure that the Gift Aid claim is valid, meaning we can claim the money back, it’s vitally important that all the information asked for on the declaration Giftaid form is completed.

American Giving

In 2005, supporters of City, University of London in the US set up Friends of City, a US non-profit organisation, tax exempt under section 501(c)3 of the US Internal Revenue Code to give back to City. Friends of City is governed by an independent board of directors and gifts to the American Friends of City are deductible to the extent allowed by law. A tax receipt in a form acceptable to the Internal Revenue Service will be issued for every gift and donation received.
