How to apply
As a postgraduate student, you will be able to make an application for City's affiliated Halls once you have firmly accepted your course offer at City. Once you have firmly accepted your course offer you will be sent an email with a link to the application form generally within 48 hours. If you do not receive this email please get in contact with our office. Applications will open on W/C Monday 6th January 2020.
This email will be sent to your personal email address. Please ensure we have your correct email address on file. This course offer can be conditional or unconditional. However, if you are holding a conditional offer please ensure you read the cancellation policy for the hall you have been nominated for, in the event that you do not meet the entry requirements of the course.
Please note - it can take a few working days for your course application record to be updated to show your firm acceptance (if you have any concerns about your record being updated please contact your course office/department). Once it has been updated you will automatically be sent the invitation email the following morning. Please ensure you check your junk/spam folders if required. If you do not receive this email please contact our office immediately.
If you would like to apply for accommodation for the current academic year (19/20) please request an application form from the Accommodation Team at email@example.com.
Please read this page carefully to help you with your application.
Halls of residence accommodation is for full-time City students, aged 18 years or over. Postgraduate students can apply for the Halls listed on this page.
Yes, you will need to list your preferences on the application form. Please note that stating a preference for a particular hall does not guarantee that this is the hall that you will be offered, but we do aim to give you your first choice of accommodation where possible.
There is no deadline for postgraduate applications for accommodation. However, as rooms are allocated on a first come first served basis, an early application is recommended.
Priority will be given to students with a disability or severe medical condition; please refer to the below section on medical conditions for further information.
Following this, rooms will be allocated on a first come first served basis.
You will not be able to add friends to the online form. If you have a friend or family who will also be applying to City and you wish to be placed in the same hall or flat, please both email us directly at firstname.lastname@example.org with the following information:
- your full name
- whether you are to be an undergraduate or postgraduate
- the course you will be taking at City
- the full names and courses of the students you wish to share with.
We will do our best to place you together, but please note that this is not guaranteed.
There is a section in the form which you will need to complete regarding this, so that we are aware you may have different requirements.
You will also need to email our Learning Success team with more information about your condition so that a Disability Co-ordinator can look into how you can best be supported. We will treat with confidentiality any information you provide; however, please confirm if you consent to share the information so that we can discuss your needs with our relevant partners - such as Hall Managers - if necessary.
Please ensure you have checked your junk/spam folders. If you have firmly accepted your course offer and have not received the invitation email please contact the Accommodation Team at email@example.com so we can look into this for you.
Postgraduates may also decide to opt for private sector housing. This could be in a private Hall of Residence, in a house or flat with friends, or in a homestay with a host family.
Please see the ULHS Private Housing database, for a private accommodation search and message board system. You can use the message board to contact other students about their searches, and also to look for flatmates. Please use your student number to access this database.
We also have joined up with the University of London Housing Service ULHS so that you have access to Private Housing advisors to help you in your search for housing. Please review our information on Private Accommodation.
