From advanced concepts of sustainable electrical power to cost-effective management of energy resources, our MSc degrees will equip you with the academic knowledge and practical skills for the global energy challenges of tomorrow.
Why study MSc Energy and Environmental Technology and Economics?
The course has been designed to develop skills in the cost-effective management of energy resources and in managing commercial and industrial development within tight environmental constraints. Course will develop economic and market-based skills relevant to carbon trading, and technical and engineering skills related to energy generation and management.
City, University of London offers you exposure to a wide variety of subjects ranging from managing conventional energy production units to renewable technologies and from regulating policies relevant to low carbon emissions to risk management assessment.
The subjects are covered from the perspective of both high level national and international policies and economics to energy supply markets as seen from the users' and suppliers' perspectives.
One of the distinguishing features of our course is that the lectures are delivered by a range of experts from the energy industry. Our students gain up-front knowledge of what is a rapidly evolving energy perspective from those directly involved.
It also gives experienced recognition of regulations and national policies that are being developed or must be conformed to.
The course is accredited by the Energy Institute and fulfils the learning requirement for chartered engineer status.

Why study MSc Renewable Energy and Power Systems Management?
This course has been designed to meet the industrial demand for the training and education of both existing and future engineers in the advanced concepts of sustainable electrical power and energy generation. It provides skills for operation, control, design, regulation and management of power systems and networks of the future.
Due to the introduction of tough environmental laws, the use and integration of renewable energy schemes have become of paramount importance in order for nations to meet strict low pollution targets.
Knowledge of the impact of such schemes on the existing electrical grid structure is covered in great detail. Power systems design, power systems management and economics, power systems simulation and power conditioning are all addressed on the course.
Students learn from academic staff and visiting lecturers: one such visiting lecturer, from UK Power Networks, leads two modules and brings professional expertise and industry-relevant material to the degree.
Students also learn to use power industry-standard software, including DigSilent and Neplan. The academic delivery of the course is supplemented by the use of City's new power-related laboratory equipment.
This course is accredited by the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET).
