Our London location

City, University of London is located in the heart of our cosmopolitan capital city. As a student, you will be studying in close proximity to some of the world's leading companies employing mathematicians, computer scientists and engineers.

London skyline including St PaulsOur unique central London location will allow you to develop your potential in the vibrant area of Clerkenwell, in close proximity to well-known and innovative businesses in the fields of software engineering, civil and structural engineering, design and finance. Whichever discipline you choose to study, you will find many opportunities for work placements during your degree. The School of Mathematics, Computer Science & Engineering at City, University of London actively maintains close relationships with industry leaders. These companies employ our graduates to fuel their teams with fresh ideas and creativity. Over 700 former City students have found employment and placements within local companies and continued their personal development.

As a student, you will have the chance to benefit from the help of the School's Professional Liaison Unit, which was specifically created to connect employers with our students. A number of companies in the local area provide placements, internships and work-based learning for our students. Others are currently establishing their relationship with us, which will eventually result in a greater number of employment opportunities, workshops and careers events run on campus.


Clerkenwell is a design hub located in the vibrant Borough of Islington, previously an industrial centre. Today Clerkenwell represents one of the most significant design hubs in the world, home to more creative businesses and architects per square mile than anywhere else on the planet.

During the last twenty years Clerkenwell's unique variety of buildings have been transformed into modern design studios, showrooms and workshop spaces, attracting architectural, design and creative practices across the world. Clerkenwell is a truly dynamic area, with a proud tradition of working with the creative industries stretching back to the Industrial Revolution, where craft workshops, printmakers, clockmakers and jewelers thrived. Today some of these traditional crafts still flourish, alongside high-profile contemporary designers, independent producers and international brands. Clerkenwell houses more than 90 world-renowned design brand showrooms and more than 200 architectural practices.

The City of London

The City of London is one of the world's leading financial centres. It has existed as an international centre of commerce ever since Roman times. With over 17,000 businesses employing over 454,000 professionals from all backgrounds, the district contributes over £45 billion to the UK's national income. The City of London represents a business centre hosting some of the very largest international organisations, as well as small and medium-sized enterprises. The City offers fantastic opportunities to students seeking employment within the insurance, banking and financial technology sectors.

Tech City

Tech City is one of the biggest tech start-up clusters in the world, alongside New York and San Francisco. Originally developed in 2009, Tech City is supported by local and national government. It currently headquarters over 40,000 businesses and 36 business accelerators and has attracted over £80 million in venture funding since 2010.
