In the assessment for Communication, Cultural and Media Studies, Library and Information Management, 87% of our research was rated as 4* (world-leading) and 3* (internationally excellent).
Our research in English Language and Literature was also rated highly, with 82% recognised as being 4* and 3* quality.

The Centre for Culture and the Creative Industries undertakes world-leading research into many aspects of the international creative economy and regularly advises organisations such as UNESCO and the Department of Culture, Media and Sport on matters of cultural policy. It has particular specialisms in cultural labour and work, globalisation, identity, digital media and new technologies, amongst other areas.
The Centre for Information Science studies the impact of technology, economics and socio-cultural values on the processes of information communication, so that we can understand how people, organisations and communities can benefit from access to and understanding of information, to support fair and prosperous societies.
