City Summer Sounds 2018
We celebrate the wealth of talented performers and composers from the City community, alongside guests and friends of the Department of Music at our free, four-week music festival.
This year features world and UK premieres, freshly unearthed masterpieces, unique collaborations and performances that break with the conventions of the usual concert experience, using video, light and new technology.
The diversity of the department’s interests are reflected in events including music from across the world, jazz, electronica and classical chamber music.

Michael Nyman - Music which has influenced me, but which I have never heard
May 29 2018, 6pm: The Department of Music is delighted to welcome Michael Nyman CBE for the first in the department’s Distinguished Lecture Series. Nyman will discuss his diverse career with particular focus on his re-compositions based on notated sources.
