Obscenity versus objectification: A feminist reading of Leveson and its aftermath

My research looks critically at the Leveson Inquiry from a feminist perspective by considering the historical development of the highly contested discourses around the visual representation of women in UK print media, and analysing how these discourses have been expressed in the Leveson Inquiry and beyond. This study raises questions about how the framework of the Leveson Inquiry may affect both the representation of women in the UK press, and the ways in which questions of gender representation are understood and theorised.
