Can you tell us a bit about what you're doing now?

I am currently studying for an MSc in Finance at Imperial College Business School. I believe that the breadth and complexity of modules offered as part of the BSc Economics at City helped me get into Imperial.

How did you first get interested in Economics?

My interest began in 2008 when I came to London to study French and Management at King's College London and one of my modules was Economics. At that time Lehman Brothers had just collapsed and the financial crisis was beginning to escalate. As a result, Economics became a subject that was paid a lot of attention and as I wanted to have a good practical and theoretical understanding of it, I switched to City to study for a BSc in Economics, which was the right choice.

Were there any lecturers who really inspired you?

Professor Andy Denis was the best, most passionate teacher I have encountered. One Sunday afternoon I sent him an email asking if he could look through an essay and provide feedback. Professor Denis got back to me within the same hour giving feedback on my work. I was impressed to see that a lecturer is willing to spend his personal time on a Sunday helping one of his many students. Such a relationship inspired me to work particularly hard on the courses he taught.

What was your favourite topic or module?

My favourite module was the project where we worked on our dissertations and literature reviews, as I was able to put into practice all the knowledge I'd developed throughout my Bachelors degree at City.

What are your longer-term career plans?

I aim to pursue a career in finance. City's BSc Economics provided a fantastic opportunity to learn about and grasp the main concepts on which Economics and Finance are built.
