Samuel is a 1st year BA Journalism student. He decided to study at City because of the proximity to home and the vibrant environment in London.
What were you doing before you came to study at City?
I went to sixth form in Norfolk and studied four A-levels: Spanish, English, Media, Geography, and General Studies.
Why did you decide to apply to study at City, University of London?
The location of City, being in London, was one of the main pull factors. It is relatively close to home and is a vibrant city where I believe I could learn a lot. The journalism degree was very highly-rated, and I was impressed with the facilities when I visited on an Open Day.
What is your favourite thing about studying at City?
I love the access I am given to various equipment on the journalism course. It makes me feel very involved and I am learning so much already in the early stages of the course.
What kind of things are you involved in outside of your course?
I work as a Marketing Student Ambassador within the University. It is a great opportunity to meet more people and improve on various skills, as well as have an income. I am also involved with some sports clubs, such as squash and cricket.
What do you plan to do after you graduate?
I hope to enter employment straight away, even at a small company, where I can then work my way through. I am also considering working abroad for some time, should I continue to pursue Spanish alongside my degree.
What would be your top tip for our applicants?
Work hard and with passion: if you have a subject you really care about, you will have no regrets studying it at university.
