Lucy is a 4th year BSc Psychology student. After graduation she would like to train as an early years teacher and work in educational psychology.
What were you doing before you came to study at City?
I was at sixth form in Sussex studying A-Levels in Psychology, English Language and Chemistry.
Why did you decide to apply to study at City, University of London?
I knew I wanted to study in London, and after visiting City on an Open Day I immediately knew it was the right place for me. The academics and staff I met were friendly and leaders in their field, so I knew I would be taught by the best. In addition, City was in a great central London location and the Psychology course has pathway options to specialise in the final year.
What is your favourite thing about studying at City?
I like the people I have met and the sense of community on campus. I also really enjoy my course and the flexibility I have to tailor my module choices to my personal interests.
What kind of things are you involved in outside of your course?
I am a Widening Participation Student Ambassador working with young people from schools and colleges in London in on and off campus events. I also work for the Marketing team which has been a great way to earn money, meet new people and develop my skills. I am also a member of some of the societies.
What do you plan to do after you graduate?
I would like to train to be an early years teacher with Teach First. I then aim to pursue a career in educational psychology.
What would be your top tip for our applicants?
Pick a subject you love and find a university that feels right for you.
