Louise is a first year student at City, University of London, studying MPH Public Health on a part-time basis.
What made you choose City and your course?
I was attracted to City by its strong academic reputation and by the diverse, interesting and practical nature of the MPH course. Plus its central location is an added bonus.
What have been the most enjoyable aspects of your course?
The most enjoyable aspects of the course for me have been learning about a wide array of global health issues such as malaria, maternal health, NCDs, and some of the underlying social determinants that influence health.
What are your career aspirations for when you graduate?
I hope that the wider knowledge and professional qualification of a MPH will help me on the way to becoming a technical advisor for global health programmes in the future.
What were you doing before you came to study at City?
Currently I work for international children’s charity, Plan UK, managing a portfolio of adolescent health projects in different countries around the world.
Aside from your course, what else do you like/enjoy about City?
It has been great getting to know other students on the course who come with a varied and wide variety of experiences; some from medical professions, others from research or international development backgrounds.
