Iman studies MSci Computer Science with Cyber Security. She enjoys the relaxed and stress-free atmosphere at City and the societies on offer.
What were you doing before you came to study at City?
I was studying A-Levels Mathematics and Further Mathematics, AS-level Chemistry and also doing my Extended Project Qualification (EPQ). My EPQ topic was based around social media and data protection, which helps me at university because it is related to the my degree.
Why did you decide to apply to study at City, University of London?
I knew that I wanted to apply to study at City in Year 12. It was a goal I set myself before I entered sixth form. When researching courses in Year 11, I found a course that I wanted at City. I didn't want to leave London so City, University of London was perfect for me.
What is your favourite thing about studying at City?
The atmosphere on campus is very relaxed and stress-free and there are many places to study or even just relax. City is a very social university, there are over 100 societies which is a great way to meet people outside of your course and make new friends. There is something happening every week in the university which you can get involved in, it never gets boring!
What kind of things are you involved in outside of your course?
I didn't attend university to just attend my lectures and tutorials, I go to get as much experience as I can possibly get. I am currently a Marketing Student Ambassador, which is a great way to meet people and earn money.
What do you plan to do after you graduate?
I don't have a set career path that I am going to follow. I am willing to explore different avenues. I plan on working in the computing sector, but I don't want to limit myself in one direction.
What would be your top tip for our applicants?
Aim high and don’t let fear of rejection stop you from applying to study what you truly want to study. Some courses don't have interviews, so your personal statements may be the only way admissions will find out more about you. Aim high and work hard.
