Hannah is a 4th year BSc Psychology student. She has just finished a year’s clinical psychology placement, working within the NHS.
Why did you decide to apply to study at City?
I really wanted to move to London for University and I found that City offered a great course for Psychology, including the options of a sandwich placement year or year abroad which was one of my top priorities.
Once you'd received offers from different universities how did you make your decision to choose City?
I revisited the Universities that had made me offers and read a lot of student reviews online. In the end I chose City because it wasn't a campus university, it was located in the centre of London with so much happening around it. This would be one of my favourite things about City - it's amazing location.
What kind of things are you involved in outside your course?
I am a Student Ambassador so I help at Open Days, campus tours and other City events. I've also been a member of the City Netball team and Psychology society which both hold great events! I'm now also working part-time as an Assistant Psychologist in the NHS.
Does your course offer the opportunity to do a placement or study abroad year?
I had the opportunity to take a placement year or study abroad between my second and third years at City. I applied for both and it was a tough choice deciding which route to take. Eventually I decided to take the placement option and have just finished working as an Honorary Assistant Psychologist within the NHS which was incredibly interesting and thoroughly enjoyable.
What would be your top tip for our applicants?
Come to all the Open Days, talk to as many like-minded students as possible and find out everything that City has to offer!
