Djemira is a 2nd year BSc Child Nursing student. Before joining City, she undertook a gap year, in which she worked at a GP surgery and travelled.
What were you doing before you came to study at City?
I took a gap year, working at a GP surgery as a Health Care Assistant, to fund my travels in Africa and South America.
Why did you decide to apply to study at City, University of London?
I was impressed by the clinical skills facilities at City, and the opportunity to expand my clinical experience within the University. The overall look and the atmosphere of City also caught my attention.
What is your favourite thing about studying at City?
Being able to meet loads of different people from a variety of backgrounds and having the option to join many different societies and clubs.
What kind of things are you involved in outside of your course?
I work as a Health Care Assistant at a London hospital. I am also a GCSE Spanish and Portuguese tutor, and I do additional volunteer work with my previous secondary school.
What do you plan to do after you graduate?
I am fortunate that my course allows me to secure a job once I graduate. I would love to work in a paediatric accident and emergency department at a busy London hospital.
What would be your top tip for our applicants?
Never be afraid to be yourself and let your passion for your chosen course shine through your words and actions.
