Aquila is a 1st year BA History student. She felt the University was the right fit for her after she attended one of City’s Applicant Days.
What were you doing before you came to study at City?
I was at sixth form, studying English Literature, History and Biology for my A-Levels. I also had a part-time job in retail.
Why did you decide to apply to study at City, University of London?
I always knew that I wanted to study in a London university because the location provides such diversity, mix of cultures and is near some of London’s greatest historical monuments. The atmosphere at the City’s Applicant Day really made me feel like I was on the right course.
What is your favourite thing about studying at City?
My favourite thing is having all the options available: whether it’s from which societies I want to join, the range of modules I can choose, the part-time jobs or the language courses I can take up.
What kind of things are you involved in outside of your course?
I am a Marketing Student Ambassador and a Widening Participation Ambassador. I also still have a part-time job in retail. These job roles help me build my CV, whilst also giving me some extra money which is helpful for student life. I also helped form City’s first History Society, where I am the Finance Manager.
What do you plan to do after you graduate?
I will either do a masters or try for a graduate scheme job.
What would be your top tip for our applicants?
Take the time and effort to research your degree properly, see if you enjoy the module content. If you enjoy and are passionate about your degree, then university life will be easier.
