The aim of Vasiliki's PhD is to improve our understanding of how people perceive their own emotional states and those of others. Studies have shown that professional dancers and musicians are often more sensitive to the emotions expressed in dance and music than people without relevant expertise. The purpose of her PhD is to compare how dancers and non-dancers respond to the emotions expressed by others. By doing so, we will better understand why some people might find it difficult to understand their own and other’s emotions and whether dance or music therapies may be beneficial for people who experience such difficulties.
