Overview
Merili Pullerits is a PhD student in the Department of Sociology and Criminology whose research project is examining the measurement and understanding of domestic violence reported to the Crime Survey for England and Wales. She is currently also working as a Research Assistant at the University of Manchester on a project examining the conceptualisation and nature of non-intimate femicide.
Merili has previously held various Research Associate and Research Assistant roles on a range of both qualitative and quantitative projects related to violence against women and girls. Specific areas of research focus have included the police response to intimate partner rape and other sexual offences (as part of Operation Soteria Bluestone), domestic abuse against older adults, and trafficking in human beings. Prior to joining academia, she worked as a Researcher in the Crime and Justice team at the National Centre for Social Research where she worked on projects commissioned by various crime and justice related national agencies.
