Will Goring is the Technical Director for the Department of Performing Arts at City, University of London.
Will Goring worked in the music industry as a freelance recording engineer, mix engineer and producer through the 90s for various major and independent record labels including Island, Rough Trade, Arista, London (FFRR), Strictly Rhythm and M&G. As a recording artist and producer, Will released several tracks, including 2 UK top 40s. During this time, Will also worked as in house engineer at the Royal Academy of Music.
In 2001 he completed a Masters’ degree in Audio Production (Distinction), before moving into education. He has since worked at the Royal Academy of Music, Eton College and more recently Oxford University, where he designed and built their new recording and pre production facilities. He joined City University Music dept as Technical Director in January 2010.
While at City, Will has spearheaded many new initiatives, such as the refitting of the studios and Mac labs, and designing a new asset tracking and booking system with display screens. As well as looking after the day to day technical needs of the department, Will is also responsible for managing the technical side of City concerts, and running the Sound Recording Modules on both the BMus and BSc Music degree courses.
