Shamil studied at City, University of London, and graduated in 2013.
Why you decided to study at City?
I chose to study at City because of the university's close ties to prospective employers, specifically within the UX industry, as well as the hands-on, interactive nature of the course.
What was your favourite aspect/highlights of your course?
I thoroughly enjoyed working on my dissertation with my supervisor and other departments within City. The interdisciplinary nature of my research topic meant that I worked very closely with academics from Speech and Language Therapy. The experience widened the breadth of my dissertation and allowed me to work within areas I wouldn't have expected.
What was the highlight of your time at City, University of London?
The people. All of the students within the course, including the course instructors and administrative staff, worked together to ensure that everyone came out of the program successfully and achieved what they wanted. We had continual support around further study, obtaining internships and full time positions, and networking within the wider UX community. I strongly believe that this contributed to my professional success today.
How did City prepare you for your chosen career path?
The course at City provided me with hands-on experience and connections within the UX industry to get me started on the right foot. When I started my internship, I found that the skills I gained through the course were directly applicable to my job. This allowed me to quickly start working directly with clients and delivering value to their projects.
