Niyati Joshi studied for a Master's in International Publishing from City, University of London, and graduated in 2013. She is a senior executive at Crossword Bookstores in Mumbai. She handles the editorial for The Write Place - a self-publishing initiative.
It has been about a year or so since I completed the MA in International Publishing from City and I'm quite proud of the fact that I'm currently working as a senior executive at Crossword Bookstores in Mumbai, India - handling the marketing and editorial for The Write Place, Crossword's self-publishing initiative.
Prior to Crossword Bookstores I managed the editorial department at Wordit Content, Design and Editing Services, a self-publishing start-up in Mumbai, India. And to be completely honest, I wouldn't be doing what I am doing today, if it weren't for the MA and the kind of insight it provides into the world of publishing.

The best thing about the course is that one isn't just learning theory or processes but learning how to deal with everyday, realistic situations that one might face while working in the industry. From working out backend costs to dealing with the authors directly, every difficult situation I face at work reminds of some project or the other that we had to do for the MA; and I am thankful that I was prepared well.
Although the Indian publishing industry is a few steps behind the UK industry, having observed, experienced and understood the UK industry, I know what to expect. I can't be thankful enough for everything the MA has been.
