Kiran studied at City, University of London.
Why did you choose to study at City, University of London?
The reason I chose City, University of London is because it is one of the leading universities in this area with exceptional research and teaching staff.
What did you enjoy most about your course?
There is a high level of interaction between the teaching staff and students. Almost 95% of the course includes the latest developments in the field making it a very exciting course.
What was your favourite module and why?
Cryptography was my favourite module due to my inclination towards mathematics. The course leader Dr Nikos Komninos is very passionate about this subject and delivers with a high level of enthusiasm with is contagious.
What was a highlight of your course?
The highlight of the course was the practical part of Cryptography, which is ethical hacking. It is an essential and indispensable part of coursework in order to learn different perspectives of the security issue we are facing in the world currently.
What do you plan to do after graduating?
I am looking into working in the industry for a few years and then work towards a PhD.
I have been in my current role as Information Security Analyst at DeuDraa since December 2015, where I am solely in charge of IT Security. I audit security, introduce procedures for ensuring that sensitive data remains secure and train staff on confidentiality protocols. Since staff use cloud storage, I am also learning about cloud architecture on the side.
I also perform intrusion detection by monitoring unusual behaviour and performing appropriate actions for disabling them.
I enjoy working at DeuDraa, as it provides me the opportunity to learn on the job as well as the flexibility to apply my own personal approach to my work.
