What was your favourite aspect of your course?
My favourite aspect of the course was the quality of lectures delivered by experienced and professional academic staff who are experts in their field. There was a good balance between theoretical and practical lessons. The professors made sure that the students were engaged by involving everyone in small exercises, and workshops were held to improve collaboration and communication between people from different backgrounds.
The course improved my interpersonal communication skills; it included field trips to construction sites; and also enabled networking with professionals in the construction industry. The management modules were excellently delivered and created a bridge to an international management career.
What is your current job role?
Assistant Project Manager at Jacobs Engineering UK Limited, located at Tower Bridge Court, London.
My primary role is assisting the Managers and Project Directors manage small to large scale projects. City, University of London provided transferable skills which are used in my current role, these include: stakeholder management, project finance, leadership, earned value management, and contract law.
What was the highlight of your time at City, University of London?
Two key highlights were the workshops and career events. City, University of London conducted professional career events which allowed me to engage with professionals in the construction industry. The field trips to construction sites also gave me the insight into the UK construction industry.
