Harjit studied for a degree in Radiography - Radiotherapy and Oncology at City, University of London, and graduated in 2016.
What made you choose to study Radiography - Radiotherapy and Oncology?
I enjoyed studying Oncology in my biology A Level at Sixth Form and knew I wanted to work in a hospital environment with patients, so this course was a perfect combination of the two.
Why did you choose City?
It has excellent learning facilities for my course and a wide range of both NHS and private placement sites around London.
What has been the most enjoyable part of the course?
I really enjoyed the hospital placements and that I was given the opportunity to go to so many different sites.
What has been the most challenging part of the course?
Balancing both the clinical placements and the academic workload; for a large amount of second and third year I had clinical hospital placements throughout the year which coincided with assignment deadlines and my dissertation writing. This was very challenging because I would attend placement 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday and have to find time to be able to complete the assignments.
What is the best thing about being a student at City?
City is in an amazing location, literally in the heart of London, there’s so much to do and you meet so many different people from around the world.
How has the course and City helped you in achieve your goals?
What was particularly advantageous for me during the interview processes was demonstrating the wide range of clinical experience I had because as a student at City you are exposed to such a wide range of placements
What advice would you give to anyone thinking of applying to study your course?
Make sure you keep yourself organised and have fun!!
Would you recommend City, University of London to anyone thinking about studying Radiography - Radiotherapy and Oncology?
