Elyse studied for a master's degree in Construction Management at City, University of London, and graduated in 2014.
Why did you decide to study at City, University of London?
I wanted a university that offers me an excellent education and at the same time would allow me to experience London city. I found the course that I wanted on City's website, and having heard that City had an excellent reputation from previous students who are now alumni, I did not hesitate to apply..
What was your favourite aspect of the course?
I think that having professors who are professionals and still practised their profession while teaching is extremely useful. They are up-to-date with the latest industry practices, and they do not hesitate to provide the students with a breadth of knowledge and more importantly they share the experience accumulated throughout the years.
What was the highlight of your time at City?
I especially enjoyed the site visits that we have done, the direct contact we had with professionals working in well known construction companies in the UK, playing for City's squash team and meeting friends from different parts of the world.
What was the main benefit of completing a course at City?
Completing the course allowed me to secure an exciting job with one of the most respectable construction companies in the UK, prior to the official end of the course.
How did City prepare you for your chosen career path?
I feel that I have been equipped with very good skills adapted to the business and industry I am working in. The knowledge relating to industry standards and regulations that I gained, as well as the managerial skills that I improved during my course are the most important assets that I am using daily at work.
