Asm studied for a master's degree in International Business Law at City, University of London. He discusses why he chose the LLM programme distance learning and the City Law School.
Sakib graduated from the LLM International Business Law programme in 2016, after choosing to study via distance learning, whilst still working full time as a lawyer.
Why did you choose to study the LLM International Business Law via distance learning?
I work full-time and it was impossible to take a break from work, I chose the distance learning option. International Business Law sounded promising and relevant to my field of work.
Why did you choose to study at the City Law School?
I previously studied a PGDL from City in 2004-2005. I was happy with the level of professionalism and teaching standards.
What did you enjoy most about your course?
The availability of online resources and the structure of the course.
What was your favourite module and why?
E-commerce has been a new subject for me. I took the challenge and spirit of learning new areas of law.
Can you tell us about your experience of using the online study platform/tools to aid your study?
It was a wonderful experience. The Moodle platform is so easy to use. Also the e-books and materials available in the resource platform were excellent.
How different is studying via distance learning to the normal classroom environment?
It is completely different. You have to rely a lot on yourself and your researching abilities. You need to focus on areas where you are determined.
What did you think to the structure of the programme?
I think the structure is reasonably good and efficient for people who work full-time.
How will the LLM International Business Law help with your current job role?
It is yet to be seen the effect it has had in my career and in the job market, but from a learning perspective, I think it has been a wonderful opportunity.
What advice or tips would you give to anyone who wants to study the LLM International Business Law distance learning programme?
Focus on your research and be more engaged with the online discussions.
