About

Overview

Sally McManus joined City, University of London in January 2020 as Senior Lecturer in Health.

She works in the interdisciplinary Violence and Society Centre, and is based in the School of Health Sciences.

Sally specialises in quantitative research methods and the measurement of mental health and wellbeing. She is interested in population trends in health and health behaviours and the social determinants of mental health, including the role played by violence, abuse and socioeconomic adversity.

She has an ongoing affiliation with the National Centre for Social Research, where she advises on England’s national mental health survey programme. She was PI on NIHR research grants on trends and context in women’s mental health, and on risk and resilience in self-harm and suicide. She is part of the What Works for Wellbeing Centre’s Advisory Panel and the NIHR-funded Student Mental Health Research Network leadership team.
