Clinician:
Katie is a Speech and Language Therapist and researcher specialising in acquired language disorders. She qualified from Trinity College Dublin in 2010 and worked in hospital settings in Ireland and the NHS.

Katie has worked in a teaching capacity at City since 2017 covering the BSc4 Speech and Language Therapy year group, professional studies, and motor speech disorders,

She joined City, University of London in 2014 as a research assistant and therapist on the CommuniCATE project - Enhancing Communication in Aphasia through Technology and Education funded by The Barts Charity £416,000 with PIs Dr. Celia Woolf and Professor Jane Marshall. She is currently research assistant on The SUPERB Project Adjustment post-stroke and aphasia: supporting wellbeing through peer befriending funded by The Stroke Association £490,664 with PI Professor Katerina Hilari.
Katie completed an MSc in Advanced Practice in Speech, Language and Communication at City graduating in 2018. She won a studentship to start a PhD in October 2019 at City entitled: Developing and testing the anticipated feasibility (anticipated acceptability, demand, and practicality) of a mainstream clinical Intensive and Comprehensive Aphasia Programme (ICAP) for stroke survivors with supervisors Dr. Madeline Cruice and Professor Jane Marshall.

Research Overview
Katie is currently a team member on the CommuniCATE project. This is a large scale research project on the use of technology in the rehabilitation of acquired reading, writing and spoken language disorders in stroke patients.
