About

Overview

Jesse Elvin graduated from the University of London in 1994 with a BA in Law and Anthropology. He subsequently obtained an LLM and a PhD from University of London in 1995 and 2005 respectively. Before joining City, University of London, he taught at the London School of Economics and University College London. He has published in a number of leading journals, including the Cambridge Law Journal, the Law Quarterly Review, the Modern Law Review, and the Criminal Law Review. His research and teaching interests include criminal law, tort law, and contract law.

Dr Elvin has been a member of the Society of Legal Scholars since 2005.

Dr Elvin and his colleague, Claire de Than, received two major awards from the LDC for the 2009-10 academic year:

- £8,000 Learning Development Project award
- £7,000 Enhanced Learning Project award

He was nominated for an Academic Impact Award (Teaching), City, University of London for, 2017-2018 and a Student Voice Award, City University London for 2008-09. In addition, he received a London School of Economics Law Departmental Teaching Prize for 2002-2003. He was also a Parsons Visitor at University of Sydney in 2008.

Dr Elvin is the Research Ethics Director of the City Law School. He is also a member of the Senate Research Ethics Committee.
