About
Overview
Deanna is an optometrist and a lecturer at City, University of London. Deanna joined City in 2014, where she completed her PhD and a post-doctoral research fellowship before joining the Division as a full-time lecturer.
Deanna gained her First Class Honours degree in Optometry from Aston University in 2011. Her dissertation was a practical ‘mystery shopper’ study looking into the management of ocular allergy by UK pharmacists. She worked full time as a mobile optometrist until undertaking her PhD at City, and continues to work part time in independent optometric practice on weekends. Deanna's PhD thesis was entitled 'Everyday visual function and the visual experience in dry age-related macular degeneration'. Her current research interests centre around measurement of quality of life and visual function in age-related eye disease.
