About
Overview
Dr Anne-Kathrin Fett is a Reader in Biological and Clinical Psychology who joined City, University of London in 2017. She completed her PhD on the neurocognitive mechanisms of social functioning in non-affective psychosis at the VU Amsterdam and the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience, King's College London. Before joining City, she was a Dutch Research Council Veni fellow and worked at the VU and KCL, supported by a Brain and Behaviour Foundation (NARSAD) Young Investigator grant.
Her research uses psychological, epidemiological and neuroscience approaches to study the mechanisms that underlie different aspects of social functioning, such as loneliness and social isolation, in the general population and in individuals with psychotic disorders and other mental health conditions. Her recent work explored the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on student mental health. Ultimately, she aims to contribute to the development of prevention and treatment approaches that can reduce the risk and burden of mental health disorders, loneliness, and social isolation.
She is editorial board member of Schizophrenia Research: Cognition and member of the Schizophrenia International Research Society, the International Early Psychosis Association, and the UKRI Loneliness and Social Isolation in Mental Health and SMaRteN Student Mental Health Research Networks.
Dr Fett is the Research Excellence Framework Lead for the Department of Psychology and Deputy Programme Director of the Clinical, Social and Cognitive Neuroscience MSc. She is Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and leads and teaches on the psychology BSc modules Biological Approaches to Mind and Behaviour (PS1005) and Introduction to Clinical Psychology (PS2008). She also contributes to the delivery of MSc modules. She is personal tutor and supervises BSc, MSc, PhD and DPsych (counselling) dissertation projects. Enquiries for PhD and internship positions are always welcome.
