Making an application to re-use information under the PSI Regulations

The PSI re-use application form includes all the information we require in order to process applications. However, if you submit your request in writing or by email, you must provide the following information in order for it to be a valid request under the Regulations:

  • The applicant’s name and address for correspondence
  • The document specially requested
  • The purpose for which the stated document will be re-use

Requests for re-use or general enquiries or questions about re-use requests should be sent to either psi@city.ac.uk or:

United Kingdom

Alternatively, to talk to a member of the Information Compliance Team, please telephone 020 7040 4000.

We will endeavour to respond to your request for re-use within 20 working days, but if the request is complex or lengthy and it is anticipated that there will be a delay, we will provide an explanation and a revised deadline for the response.

If City releases the requested information for re-use, we would link this to a licence covering your use. You must adhere to the terms of any licence we issue you. This may be on a without-cost basis or we may offer the licence to you based upon a charge.

Libraries are permitted under the regulations to recoup any costs arising that are associated with collection, production, reproduction, dissemination or preservation. Libraries are also permitted to make “a reasonable return” on their investment in the underlying information asset(s).

City, University of London reserves the right to refuse a request for the re-use of information under the Regulations and if this applies to your request, we will provide an explanation for refusing your application.

Complaints procedure

If you believe that the Statement of Public Task for Library Services is inaccurate or incomplete, or if you consider that our response to a request for the release of information for re-use does not comply with the PSI regulations, you may ask that the matter be reviewed internally by emailing psi@city.ac.uk or sending your complaint to the address above. All complaints will be reviewed by City’s Director of Information Technology.

If you are dissatisfied with how we respond to your complaint, you may escalate it to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).

The information on this page and related data, including the Statement of Public Task, will be reviewed every two years. The next review point will be in January 2018.
