City's built environment plays an important role in shaping our students' experience of their time on campus, our ability to carry out cutting edge research and how we interact with the local community. Our values of excellence, creativity, innovation and interdisciplinarity are reflected in the aims of all our major capital projects.
Since 2000 we have built impressive new education facilities, including the award winning Sir John Cass Business School at Bunhill Row and the Social Science building on St John Street. In 2008-9 we invested £12m in our School of Arts, creating fully equipped new music and journalism facilities and bringing new life back to previously under-developed areas of our historic College building.
Now, we are developing our Estate even further, with a massive £130M of investment due between 2012- 2017. Through our Estate Plan we will provide high quality academic space to recreate a sense of community. In turn, this will support an excellent student experience and support the individual School plans which underpin City's future. At a glance, the Estate Plan includes:
- Extensive redevelopment of buildings at Northampton Square
- Proposed construction of a new building on Sebastian Street
- The opening of a new facility for the Cass Executive programme at Aldersgate
In 2013, City will begin rolling out the Estate Plan when a number of projects begin. These include works for the Cass Executive programme, Cass Undergraduate, improvements to Gloucester Building, creation of new lecture spaces and the transformation of the Tait Building.
We have designed a small Exhibition Space to showcase our latest plans, samples and materials. This is located on the Level 1 Walkway in the University Building next to the Refectory.
