BRAND YOU: How to Market Yourself

Did you know you already have a brand? As Jeff Bezos, the founder of Amazon, once said, “A brand is what people say about you when you are not in the room”.

The best way to market yourself is to build a brand that makes you distinctive and memorable. People will ask for you.

John Purkiss and David Royston Lee will show you how to build a unique, powerful brand, based on Jungian archetypes and the latest thinking on personal marketing:

  • Your talents
  • Your values
  • Your unique selling proposition
  • Your purpose
  • Your brand identity

John and David will also talk about how to use online social networking (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc) to build your brand.

John Purkiss studied economics at Cambridge University and has an MBA from INSEAD. He began his career in banking and management consultancy, and has invested in high-growth technology businesses. John has been an executive search consultant since 1997. He was a Partner with Heidrick & Struggles prior to co-founding Purkiss & Company. John is the co-author of How to be Headhunted, and Brand You, which was published in 2009.

David Royston-Lee studied behavioural science at Aston University and occupational psychology at Birkbeck College, London. Having begun his career in recruitment, he became Head of Career Management Services at KPMG. David then worked as Human Resources Director of Ogilvy & Mather. He was Chief Executive of the CAM Foundation prior to founding Partners in Flow. As a business psychologist David uses personal marketing to help people enhance their careers or change direction.
