Centre for Translation Studies

The Centre for Translation Studies has been offering courses for translation professionals since 1990, with a focus on legal translation and terminology, and translation for media.

Many of our students are busy professionals and our courses are designed to fit around their needs, combining distance learning with intensive face-to-face teaching blocks or evening lectures and seminars.

Courses include:

• IoLET Diploma in Translation examination preparatory course
• Legal Translation MA: the only postgraduate course in the UK focusing exclusively on legal translation
• Audiovisual Translation MA: puts this expanding field of translation within its industry context, linking screen translation to production and distribution
• Principles and Practice of Translation PG Cert: a unique course offering preparation for entry into the IoLET Diploma in Translation as well as a PG Certificate in its own right.
• Continuing Professional Development (CPD): ideal for professional translators looking to enhance or expand their skills. Short courses in legal translation, audiovisual translation, financial terminology, subtitling, audio description, and more.
