Outstanding Contribution to the Local Community
The following nominations are shortlisted for this category.
Dr Madeline Cruice
Senior Lecturer, School of Health Sciences
"Students, staff and community Speech and Language Therapists have been helping people with aphasia to improve their IT skills and gain access to much of the technology society takes for granted in a series of classes at City University London. The project, lead by Madeline, was a fantastic success as it enabled the staff and students to get to know a lot of people with aphasia (a condition which results in the loss of language) in the local community, while also highlighting the importance of a good quality of life and the services that universities can provide to the local community."
Entrepreneurship Education Manager
"In the past year alone, Alex has run hackathons and design jams in partnership with big businesses including Visa Collab and Colgate, which are open to the Tech City and wider startup community. This gives entrepreneurs from the local community, as well as City students, the opportunity to collaborate, design and pitch in front of experts and network with likeminded individuals."
Community Volunteering Officer
"Ben undertakes his work with great humility, not seeking outward recognition for his achievements and striving constantly to improve himself and the situation of those around him. He is a great member of the Student Experience team and role model for colleagues."
