Law

One of the first institutions to produce barristers in London, The City Law School remains a leading legal educator in London after more than 150 years.

Our graduates have been shaping the boundaries of society for over a century; they have gone on to lead nations, influence global corporate policies and successfully represent clients in courts of law around the world. Our longstanding ties with The Inns of Court and the heritage of The Inns of Court School of Law (founded 1852 and merged with the University in 2001) make City one of the most prominent education institutions for law in London. At City, practitioners are offered the unique opportunity to undertake their complete legal education in one place; from undergraduate studies through to professional training.

Courses and study

City offers courses in law at undergraduate, postgraduate and research degree levels, as well as professional qualifications and continuing professional development courses. We cover all major areas of law, with specialisms including: criminal & civil litigation; maritime law; international commercial, business & competition law; EU commercial law; and international banking & finance.

Our courses are validated by relevant professional bodies, such as the Bar Standards Board and the Solicitors Regulation Authority.

In addition to our course offering, students are given the opportunity to gain hands-on legal experience by volunteering in the City Law School's Pro Bono and Free Representation Units
