Why did you choose to study at City?
I chose to study at City because I had a good feeling about it. It may sound daft but as soon as I saw the website I knew that City was the University for me. My intuition seems to have paid off as I later learnt that friends of friends have studied with City and had a good experience, as I am having now.
What do you like best about your course?
The thing that I like best about my course is the fact that I'm going to be a nurse at the end of it. It's an honour to have that as your job title and I'm working hard to ensure that I am the best nurse that I can possibly be. I work with some fantastic people and do a job that has such a direct impact on lives. I owe it to everyone that has helped me so far-my family, my lecturers and those in the healthcare setting to do the best job that I can.
What is your favourite part of living in London?
London is a brilliant place to study as it has so much opportunity. There's a lot going on but on the flip side, it's not as big as you think. There are communities within London and to be a part of them is very rewarding. Equally, being a part of a community at University is important.
I've had my bicycle since I used it to work as a home carer. It came with me to London and I wouldn't be without it. When I moved into halls it helped carry my bags, by day it got me to placement and by night it lived in the bike shed. I still use it now and the best bit is that I can claim back mileage for travelling to and from placement, it's like free money!
What activities/clubs/societies are you involved in?
I'm a Student Information Officer for the Royal College of Nursing and it's great to listen to and represent the nursing students. I'm also a Student Ambassador for Adult Nursing.
What do you like best about studying at City?
What I like best about City is the platform that is has given me to achieve my goals. I'm in a fantastic city and studying with a group of like-minded people who I can honestly call my friends.
What advice do you have for new students?
If I was to give any advice to new students to would be to grab every opportunity that you can and to make the most of your time as a student. Your life is what you make it.
