Why study at City?

Campus and Facilities

Students' Union

The Students' Union offers a range of support including opportunities for students and staff to discuss the continuous enhancement of the student experience and provide individual support. It also provides a wide range of entertainment. Our Students' Union is affiliated to the National Union of Students (NUS) and plays an active role in national student politics.

Student Activities and Sport

The Union has over 50 clubs and societies which cater for a broad range of interests. Activities can include anything from extracurricular academic events to talent shows. Of course if you can't find your interest on campus, our student groups make the most of what London has to offer. To help you use your free time productively we also provide a range of structured volunteering opportunities. For example if you are interested in journalism, video production or photography you are invited to join a student media group which produces a regular newspaper and the Union website. If you are a postgraduate law student you can volunteer on our advocacy project.

We have a varied competitive sports programme organised by our student clubs. The rugby club shares facilities with The Honourable Artillery Company in Moorgate and the fencing, hockey, rowing, football, tennis, cricket and netball clubs have use of facilities throughout north London. If you are interested in trying something new, our recreational sports programme provides the opportunity to try sports and leisure activities such as ice skating, rock climbing and horse riding, without making a long-term commitment.

Saddlers Sports Centre

Our Sport Centre is undergoing extensive redevelopment which will see the introduction of much improved facilities.  City's Sports and Leisure department continues to provide an exciting programme of sporting, leisure and wellbeing activities for students.  Contact sport@city.ac.uk for more information on our sports and leisure programme.

Eating at the University

There are many places to eat at the University, including coffee shops, sandwich bars, the student refectory and the Students' Union social venue, Ten Squared, where you can choose from a wide selection of hot and cold food and speciality dishes.

Named after its address, Ten Squared is a multi-functional social space. During the day, it is a place to meet friends, eat, chat, surf the web or relax between lectures. In the evening, the venue becomes a vibrant social space that hosts a range of events from televised sports to fashion shows and quizzes. You can even reserve a table or an area within the venue for your own functions.
