Undergraduate scholarships
City University London Undergraduate Scholarship Schemes
We have a range of undergraduate scholarships available for first year UK/EU students, based on academic achievement and/or financial need. New for 2012 entry is:
- The Lord Mayor of London Scholarships; These awards are open to UK and EU students who achieve AAB or above in their A-levels or equivalent qualifications. They are worth up to £3,000 a year for at least three years. You can read more information here.
Our five established scholarships listed below each require an application to be completed:
- The Worshipful Company of Dyers Bursary: This £1,000 award is paid each year of the course, and is open to new UK students based on financial need and preference will be given to graduates of Dyers sponsored schools.
- The Worshipful Company of Needlemakers Award; This award is open to any first year UK undergraduate to apply for and is worth £1,000
- The Shirley Robson Memorial Prize; This £1,000 award is open to UK Music students about to commence any year of the undergraduate program.
- City Future Fund Scholarships (X2); These £1,000 awards are open to first year UK undergraduate students on any full-time course.
The City Future Fund Scholarships are supported by generous donations from alumni and friends through the City Future Fund. It is only with these donations that we are able to offer the essential financial assistance/scholarships/money management course to current students. 2011 Applications have now closed and applicants will be notified of short-listing results by early November. For 2012 starters, please revisit our website regularly for updates on the Academic Excellence Scholarships. Other scholarship information will be updated in June 2012.
Sir John Cass's Foundation Lord Mayor's Scholarship Programme
City University London is excited to announce that we are a selected participating institution in the new Sir John Cass's Foundation Lord Mayor's Scholarship Programme, which will see a number of scholarships awarded to City University London students. Each scholarship will be worth £7,000 to be awarded each year of a 3 year course following successful academic progression.
These awards are intended to be granted to UK students in the most financial need, commencing an Engineering, Mathematics or Actuarial Science Degree with the following criteria:
- Be aged under 25 on 1 September 2011
- Be a permanent resident of one of the following London Boroughs and have lived there for at least one year: Camden, City of London, Greenwich, Hackney, Hammersmith and Fulham, Islington, Kensington and Chelsea, Lambeth, Lewisham, Newham, Southwark, Tower Hamlets, Wandsworth or Westminster.
- Be eligible for student support and have been assessed by Student Finance England as having a residual household income of £50,778 a year or less.
- Be due to commence a full-time undergraduate degree in engineering, design and technology, mathematics or Actuarial Science.
These scholarships are now closed for academic year 2011/12. All applicants will be notified of the outcome of their applications by November. Applicants commencing in 2012 should contact us from June 2012.
International Exchange Scholarships
City is providing a number of Exchange Scholarships of up to £1,000 to assist students to study abroad for up to one year, as part of their degree, at one of our partner institutions. Please see the International Office's pages for further information.
The Helena Kennedy Foundation Bursaries
Students from disadvantaged backgrounds, who are facing severe financial hardship should find out morre about these bursaries directly from the foundation's website.
The Leverhulme Trade Charities Trust Bursaries
These bursaries are open to students in first degree courses who are resident in the UK and who are the son, daughter, spouse, widow, or widower of a commercial traveller, chemist or grocer. The bursaries are intended to assist students in financial need. Application forms can be downloaded from the Trust's website here.
Academic Prizes
Prizes are available to Undergraduate Second and Third Year students, including International and EU students. Prizes are open through nominations.
