There are many websites for helping you find private accommodation, meeting new flatmates, or even finding more information on facilities and 'things to do' in London.
Please note that these websites below have not been vetted by City University London, but have proved a useful source of information to previous students.
Websites for Finding Flatmates and Shared Accommodation:
- These websites allow you to conduct a property search on-line, based on location and price: Loot, Time Out magazine , Homes and Property, Findaproperty, Rightmove, Primelocation, Zoopla, Locanto and Ukpropertyshop.
- There are also websites that help you find rooms in shared accommodation and find flatmates. Have a look at Studentpad.co.uk, Gumtree, Spareroom, Flatmateclick, Easyroommate, Accommodationlondon and Pastures-new.
- London Strategic Housing is a charitable social landlord. There are a number of LSH properties within the London area, some of which are available to students on health related courses.
- Hosts International Ltd and Hospitality London Ltd. are organisations which arrange English homestays for overseas students. You pay a weekly fee to live in a family environment, and can choose the type of mealplan that you prefer.

Health and Safety and Utility Websites:

- There are companies such as Glide and Uswitch that can consolidate all your utility bills so that you pay just one amount per month, and if there are people moving in and out your shared accommodation, they can work out the amount owed by each person so that you don't have to (and will save you a load of arguments in the process!)
- If you want a television in your rented property, please remember that in the UK a TV Licence is required. If you rent a room in a Hall of Residence, each student needs a licence as the rooms are rented seperately.

Free Legal Advice?
- Problems with your Landlord or need free Legal Advice? Please contact the Citizens Advice Bureau.
Need to store your luggage while you travel the UK?
- If you need to find somewhere to store your belongings while you look for accommodation, or while you are travelling around the UK, just put in 'Storage Companies in London' into one of these Search Engines and you will be provided a large list of options such as The Big Yellow Storage Company and www.studentstoragebox.co.uk. If you just need to leave a bag for a few hours, or a day while you visit London, or elsewhere in the UK, you can store bags (charged per bag) in a 'Left Luggage' storage area - These can be found at many of the Main Train stations.
Journey Planners:
- If you enjoy a walk in London, or need to find out more about the location of a property, or just want to plan a journey on London's Underground Tube system (TFL), please check out the following links: Walkit, Upmystreet, Bingmaps and tfl.gov.uk.
Search Engines:
- You can look up useful information on anything using search engines such as Google, AskJeeves and Bing.
