City, University of London Bursary

The City, University of London Bursary is paid to those students who commenced their study prior to September 2012 and are in receipt of the maximum maintenance grant from Student Finance England (or relevant UK authority).

2011/12 entry students

If you are a Home UK student commencing your Undergraduate studies at City in 2011, you will be eligible for a City Bursary of £350 for each year that you receive a full maintenance grant of £2906 and are paying full tuition fees of £3,375. We will also pay the £350 bursary to students just missing out on the full grant with household incomes up to £30,000. Foundation Year students within the above categories paying half fees will receive reduced bursaries of £180 for the foundation year.

Students who commenced their study between 2008 and 2010

If you are a Home UK student commencing your Undergraduate studies at City between 2008 and 2010, you will be eligible for a City Bursary of £770 for each year that you receive a full maintenance grant of £2906 and are paying full tuition fees of £3,375. If your household income is between £25,001 and £30,000 you will be eligible for a Partial Bursary from City of £360. Foundation Year students within the above categories will receive bursaries of half value (£390 and £180 respectively).

Am I eligible?

The City, University of London Bursary is offered to undergraduate Home students who receive the full maintenance grant of £2,906 and who are paying tuition fees of £3,375. NHS-funded students, EU and international students are not eligible for the City Bursary.

How will I be paid?

You need to provide your bank details to Student Finance England. The bursary will be paid direct into this account, the same account that your Student Loan and/or Maintenance Grant will be paid into. You will be paid the bursary in two equal instalments:

  • Early October (or two weeks after Student Finance's assessment if later than October) and
  • End of February.

How do I apply?

There is no separate application form. When you apply for student support through Student Finance England (or your regional assessor), you will be considered for the bursary at the same time. There will be a consent to share statement as part of your declaration in the Student Finance application. You should receive a confirmation letter about your bursary by mid September. If you do not and you have been assessed as receiving the full maintenance grant, then please contact the Student Centre.

Consent to share

If you think that you are entitled to a bursary but have not yet received one, it could be because you or your parents have not consented to share your personal information with City. This can be done by contacting the Consent to Share Helpline on 0845 603 4016 and agreeing to share your information over the telephone. Please note that your parents or sponsor will also have to contact the helpline.
