Health & safety and utility websites

  • The following guides contain useful information about health & safety, gas, electricity and water industries: Health and Safety Executive, gas guide, electricity guide, water guide.
  • There are companies such as Glide and Uswitch that can consolidate all your utility bills so that you pay just one amount per month, and if there are people moving in and out of your shared accommodation, they can work out the amount owed by each person so that you don't have to.
  • If you want a television in your rented property, please remember that in the UK a TV Licence is required. If you rent a room in a hall of residence, each student needs a licence as the rooms are rented separately.

Need to store your luggage while you travel the UK?

If you need to find somewhere to store your belongings while you look for accommodation, or while you are travelling around the UK, search for 'Storage Companies in London' using on Google/Bing and you will be provided with a large list of options such as The Big Yellow Storage Company and www.studentstoragebox.co.uk. If you just need to leave a bag for a few hours, or a day while you visit London, or elsewhere in the UK, you can store bags (charged per bag) in a 'Left Luggage' storage area - these can be found at many of the main train stations in the UK.
